Today we are having a guest at Kid's Club. A fire fighter is talking about what to do in the event of an emergency. There are often a lot of fires in Masi in the winter. Hopefully, our kids will be equipped with the important information they need to stay safe.

Food, glorious food!

Once a month, Vulnerable Children provides a month's worth of food for each of our VC families. That's 26 sacks of potatoes, 26 heads of cabbage, 26 jugs of oil and 52 bags of maize (corn) meal, among other things. It filled the entire living room of the house in Masi where we sorted it -- and it was a glorious thing to behold. Through this ministry, 26 families are receiving the nutrician they need for their kids to grow up strong and healthy. What an amazing testimony of provision!
The attached picture is of me, Whitney (also with All Nations), Wendy (our asset in Masi who generously let's us use her house in Masi to distribute the food) and Wendy's daughter.

I love my job

Yesterday I worked really hard... I went to the beach! It's amazing that I get to love on people as part of my mission here. I took some kids from Masi to the beach yesterday and they had a blast. I've attached some pictures of me and one boy building sandcastles.

The interesting thing is that although Masi is only about 2 miles from the beach, people rarely make the trip. It's hard when you don't have a car or money for taxi fare. So I took three kids to the beach yesterday and it was such a treat. It's school holidays this week, so I figured it was time to do something out-of-the-ordinary in my relationships.

We played on the beach, and after a few hours I was wiped out. So we showered and changed and I took the kids back to their shacks on their densely-populated street full of struggle and strife. But for a morning, we lived a dream life of fun in the sun and splashing in the waves. And for that, all the sand in my car seems sure worth it.
